This picture was taken in the summer of 2005. I risked life and limb climbing to the base of Lower Yosemite Falls. A friend, who had stayed below, was supposed to take my picture when I got to the base of the falls, but he was afraid of getting his lens soaked by the spray from the falls. When I got to the top of the last boulder and held my hands up, Rocky-style, in a victorious pose, he whipped his camera up and snapped it without looking to see what he was taking a picture of. This is the resulting photo. It is, I think, one of my all-time favorite pictures of me. (No, your computer is not malfunctioning: all you can see is me from the arms up, at the very bottom of the picture.)
