A Thesaurus will become your best friend. a good way to spice up your writing or change up your vocabulary. Repeatitiveness or wordness can get really boring for your reader, really fast. Be creative and descriptive, but also get to your point.
Plain and simple, if you're not sure what a word means, look it up. There's few things more annoying to a reader than misused vocabularly. It takes five seconds to look up a word and it can really make it look like you know what you're doing.
