Susan S. Lightle has a Bachelor degree in French from Denison University, an M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance from Wright State, and a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati.  She is a certified public accountant and a certified internal auditor.  Prior to entering the teaching profession, she was a staff auditor for Arthur Andersen & Co. in the Dayton, Ohio office. 

Dr. Lightle is past-president of the Ohio Region of the American Accounting Association.  She is a past-president and member of the board of governors of the Dayton chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.  She is also a member of the AICPA, the Ohio Society of CPAs, the Institute of Management Accountants and Phi Beta Kappa.

Dr. Lightle’s teaching and research interests focus on the audit function.   Her recent publications include an article on the Independence Standards Board and one on the role of internal audit in the effort to improve audit committee effectiveness, both in the Ohio CPA Journal and an article on Management Reports on Internal Control in the Journal of Accountancy.
