Wartime Business & Economics

Please Join Us on September 6!

The Raj Soin College of Business and Business Alumni Associates invite you to join us at the fourth meeting of the Miami Valley Forum on Wartime and Economics.  It will be held on Friday, September 6, from 11:30 - 2:00 in the Berry Room of the Nutter Center at Wright State University.

All local businesspeople are invited.  We will discuss issues associated with preparation for possible future terrorist attacks and the ongoing war on terrorism:

A panel of businesspeople and faculty members of the Raj Soin College of Business at Wright State University will give brief presentations and then lead small group discussions on these topics.  The forum has been an excellent venue for information sharing and collaboration among businesspeople.

Deadline for registration is Tuesday, September 3, but seating is limited so early registration is strongly recommended.  Lunch will be served at 11:30, and there is no cost to participants.  However, "no shows" will be invoiced $11.50.

To register, contact Scott Williams at scott.williams@wright.edu or 775-4513.  The following information is needed:

Be Vigilant!

Vigilance was the theme of our January 14 meeting of the Miami Valley Forum on Wartime Business and Economics.  The good news is that we have seen very little terrorist activity since the September 11 attacks, and the campaign in Afghanistan has been very successful.  Most of our personal lives are returning to normal.  However, terrorists are patient and persistent.  We may very well see terrorist attacks again.  How should business people prepare for the possibility of future terrorist attacks?  That was the topic of the presentation given by Captain Rennes Bowers of the Dayton Fire Department at our January 14 meeting.  Contact Dr. Scott Williams (scott.williams@wright.edu) to obtain a copy of the notes from Captain Bowers' presentation.

Let Us Be Your Resource

It is the sincere hope of the Raj Soin College of Business that we will be able to assist local businesses during this time of great uncertainty and stress.  The Miami Valley has a rich history of creativity, innovation and resourcefulness, and we are confident that the local business community will continue to prosper.  As the Miami Valley musters its resources to cope with the "war on terrorism" and "Operation Enduring Freedom," we intend to be one of those resources.
America is successful because of the hard work and creativity and enterprise of our people.  These were the true strengths of our economy before September 11, and they are our strengths today.  (President George W. Bush, September 20, 2001, in his address to Congress)

Share Your Questions With Us
