And boy is he an active one. The last month he's been moving like crazy. Last week I counted 42 movements in 20 minutes. Yesterday he did 20 movements in 5 minutes.
The big news, though, is that we got another ultrasound. It was confirmed that he is a boy, so we'll be sticking with Christopher James (C.J. for short) as the name. We also got some 3D ultrasound pictures. He's quite the grumpy looking baby...but still cute! Enjoy the pics!

I think on the 25th was the first time I truly felt movement. I wasn't sure because it felt like gas bubbles yet it didn't. The next night when I went to bed, I felt the same feeling in about the same spot, and it happened again the next night, too. Now, it seems a lot of times when I eat, that's what gets the baby kicking. He's already getting excited about food (just like his parents!).
BOY! The doctor is pretty confident that it's a boy anyway. Soon I'll be putting ultrasound pictures up, and you might be able to see for yourself. And of course, Raf is thrilled.
I lost some weight after the surgery, but I'm finally gaining it back and showing a little. I completely into maternity pants, but I still fit into many of my stretchy tops. Luckily, I'm not afraid to show off my pregnant belly. :)

I guess it's that time of the year. I woke up yesterday all stuffy with sinus and head pain.
My throat was all scratchy, too. I was completely miserable, especially last night. Luckily, today,
I felt a little better, but I decided to go to the doctor. She said it didn't look like I had strep
or any infections in my ear, which is of course good, but it still stinks that I'm sick again. I
just stayed out past 7:00 a couple days ago for the first time since the beginning of January!
Oh well. I'm sure I'll get over this, and the doctor gave me some suggestions for over-the-counter
medicine I could take for relief. I haven't needed anything today so far, so hopefully the weekend
continues the same way and I continue to feel better.
Now, just a week and a half until my next OB appointment when we're supposed to find out the baby's
sex!!!!
The doctor took a quick look at my incisions and said they looked good. I had some bruising because he had to go in and out of the incision so many times to get the cysts and the ovary out, but he said that would clear up soon. He said the tests were back and the cysts were benign, which was very good news, and we heard the baby's heartbeat again, more good news. He didn't think there would be any more problems and said I'm back on the regular pregnant woman plan now. The only problem with that, of course, is that my nausea is also back. Never a break!
I was released the next afternoon around 5:00. The incisions looked good. I got some pain medication, and although the incision hurt, I was doing okay. When I got home, I was a little scared to be away from the hospital after a major surgery like that, but eventually, I figured out how to stand up and sit down without as much pain.
I couldn't eat or drink anything after midnight, so I was thirsty all day. Of course, I had an IV, so I was getting fluids that way, which also seemed to keep me from getting too hungry. I didn't leave for surgery until about 4. The doctor checked my stomach again and told me the game plan. He was going to go in with a scope, remove the cysts, and possibly the ovary if it had twisted. Apparently, it had. Luckily, he was able to get in and remove the cysts and the ovary without much problem, AND the baby made it through surgery as well. After waking up from surgery, I could almost immediately tell a difference. The incision hurt, but the rest of the pain was gone.

(Three of the pictures are of the cysts. The bottom left shows the area after removal--much better.)
My doctor's appointment turned out a little differently than I thought. I was still in pain, and it seemed to have spread to my entire trunk. Originally, my doctor said she wanted to see me the next day to see how I was doing. While I was getting some bloodwork done at the hospital, though, she called down and said she'd like to have me admitted and observed for a day. If I wasn't better, I'd probably need surgery. Around 2:30, they put me in a room on the OB floor, and as I lay there the rest of the day, it became very clear that I'd be going into surgery the next day. I could barely function. I couldn't get out of bed by myself. I couldn't cough, burp, or laugh without pain. Something needed to be done, but I was still scared because surgery meant a greater risk of miscarriage.
My pain had pretty much subsided. I hadn't taken Tylenol since the 12th, so I thought everything was going okay. Then, at 4:30 in the morning on the 18th, I woke up in terrible pain. It was worse than before, and I start vomiting as well. I knew it was time to go to the ER again. They gave me morphine, which did nothing for the pain, so they had to give me even more. It definitely seemed from the ultrasound this time that one of the cysts had ruptured since one was smaller. Combined they were down to about 8cm. The baby was once again okay. They sent me home with pain medication, and I was scheduled to see my doctor again two days later.

I started having pain on the lower right side of my abdomen while teaching. It was so bad I thought I was going to faint, so I had Raf meet me at home to take me to the ER. They thought perhaps that a cyst had leaked a little. The ultrasound showed that the cysts had actually gotten bigger and were around 10cm. I had a doctor's appointment three days later. Since Tylenol was enough to solve the pain, my doctor decided that we could just keep an eye on it. I scheduled an appointment for two weeks later.

From my calculations, at my first doctor's appointment, I was about 7 weeks pregnant. My first ultrasound confirmed that. It also confirmed that I had two rather large cysts on my right ovary, measuring over 7cm combined. It was a rough Week 6 and 7. I developed a cold and a sinus infection, went to the doctor, and started antibiotics. Plus, I started having all-day morning sickness. Not a good start to a pregnancy.
