- (7/30/2009) Beginning Fall Quarter 2009 we will be using the 4th Edition of
Stewart Calculus: Concepts and Contexts. This will be phased in as follows:
- Fall 2009: 4th Edition used in MTH 229 only.
- Winter 2010: 4th Edition used in MTH 229 and MTH 230.
- Spring 2010: 4th Edition used in MTH 229, MTH 230, and MTH 231.
- Summer 2010 and beyond: 4th Edition used in MTH 229 through MTH 232.
The syllabi for these courses will be adapted to the new edition in this same sequence.
The 4th Edition will be sold at the Wright State Bookstore in a nontraditional format.
It will be sold as three softcover volumes, the first covering MTH 229 and MTH 230,
containing Chapters 1-7. The second volume will be for MTH 231 and contain chapters 8-10,
and the third will be for MTH 232 and contain chapters 11-13. The printed pages
contained in these volumes will be identical to those in the hardcover version.
This format will reduce cost for students who do not take the entire sequence,
and spread out the cost for those who do. It will also make the text much more portable.
We anticipate the total cost for all three volumes will be about $10 more than a hardcover copy.
