- Prerequisite: MTH 2320 -- Calculus III with
minmum grade of D and (MTH 2330--Differential Equations or MTH 2350
--Differential Equations with Matrix Algebra, with minimum grade of D).
- Textbook: Partial Differential Equations: An
Introduction, 2nd edition, John Wiley & Sons, 2008, by Walter A. Strauss.
- Course Description: This course provides an introduction
to partial differential equations (PDEs) with some applications in
physical and engineering sciences. Topics include: Linear first oder
PDEs; Method of characteristics; Classification of second order PDEs;
Separation of variables; Maximum principles; Green's functions.
- Homework Assignments: There will be weekly assignment to be
submitted to the instructor at the beginning of the class on the
assigment due date.
- Midterm Exam: Tuesday 3/5, 12:30 -- 1:50 in room
306 Oelman.
- Final Exam: Tuesday 4/24/2018, 12:30 - 2:30.
- Grades: Final grade percentage is calculated as the
best of the schemes:
