Physical planning of coax installations:
Over a period of time, deterioration of cable parameters may occur.
An allowance of 10-20 % of the total attenuation should be made at installation
time.
Shielding:
Lengths up to 1000m - a single copper braid is sufficient.
over 1000m - foil, foil and braid, or double braid with 100% coverage.
over 2000m - low loss cable is needed.
Useful things to mark at the end of the cable:
1) device connecting to
2) device on the other end of the cable
3) physical location of the other end of the cable
4) length of the cable run
5) cable group
6) extension # of a phone near the other end of the cable.
