wire-capacity

Version date: Thu May 24 14:28:12 EDT 2012

For copper wire with a 110V circuit, and allowing only a 3%
voltage drop, you need the following gauge wire for the load
specified:

Load in Distance to load in feet
 amps <50	50	75	100	125	150	200	250
--------	-----------------------------------------------------------
  15 14	12	10	10	8	8	6	6

  20 12	12	10	8	8	6	6	4

  25 10	10	8	8	6	6	4	4

  30 10	10	8	6	6	4	4	3

  40 8	8	6	6	4	4	3	2

  50 8	8	6	4	4	3	2	1

Resistance of Copper wire:

 AWG Ohms per 1,000 feet
------ ----------------------
  14 2.57
  12 1.62
  10 1.02
   8 .640
   6 .410
   4 .260
   3 .205
   2 .162
   1 .129
   0 .102
  2/0 .0811
  3/0 .0642
