Here Heinichen shows us a sample melodic improvisation with typical ornaments added by the improviser: trills, mordents, and appogiaturas indicated by marks on and above the staff. The examples will let you hear how this improvisation sounds--first without the ornaments, and then with the ornaments added. (Again, I have added a fourth measure [not shown] so that Heinichen's example will sound musically complete.)
