The Regret

Don't you ever regret

The way you act?

Don't you ever wonder why

Our love for you seems to lack?

Don't you ever care

That you make us hurt?

Why do you try to make us

Feel like dirt?

Do you ever think of us?

Or is it always you?

Don't you ever regret

The terrible things you do?

Around and Around

Around and around we go

on this merry-go-round

we call life

many different colors brought together

and somehow we make it work

never knowing what tomorrow will bring

hoping for good times

dreaming of the best

thinking of the worst

we're going too fast

can't slow down

grit your teeth and try your best

'cause this is the merry-go-round of life

Around and around we go

A Wilting Rose

Do not regret the wilting of the rose

One will go on and continue to grow

The other flowers continue to be strong

Their life does not stop because one is gone

Even though for familiarity they long

They wait out the storm and make it through

And know that tomorrow will bring one new.

Contest

Feel the pandemonium in the stands before the pitch,

The crowd begging for one last score,

People wooing and wooing,

Girls with massive hair,

All up and giving a cheer,

Little kids saying "wow,"

As the bat and ball go pow,

There goes the ball,

Up, up, and over the wall,

Walking around the bases,

Not too shabby a feeling,

The game is over now,

We are the victors,

And I'm the hero of the game,

We put the other team to shame.

Everything Takes Practice

Practice, Practice, Practice

Are words I hate to hear

But to practice makes perfect

And perfection can take years

Just use a lot of effort

And try your very best

One day you will succeed

And maybe take the lead

It takes persistence and attitude

Trial and pain

Along with risks and struggles

Education and dreams

To be on one of those victorious teams

Through wishing and praying

Teamwork and luck

With trust and guidance

You will have confidence

Worth more than a buck

If you believe and reflect

Upon your previous goals

By then you will have accomplished

Your ultimate goal

Practice, Practice, Practice

Are words I hate to hear

But to practice makes perfect

And perfection can take years

Relaxing Day

The park is bursting with recreation

Children play soccer as the parents cheer on

Others take the soothing route with a bench and a book

The youth enjoy the comfort of the radiant sun

The swans take their pleasure in their daily whirl on the shimmering pond

Their admirers with bread greet them

The small rodents scamper across the paved trail

As the domestic animals chase their Frisbees

The content couple shares a bite to eat

On the plaid blanket

While the children enjoy an amusing game of baseball

The day is coming to a close

Parents round up their crew and call it a day

They will be back tomorrow to take gratification in the weather

Recess

the creeching of chalk

the growling of teachers

the tick-tocking of the clock

have all been surpassed

suddenly squealing students squirm about

on the mangled bars

giggling girls gawk at the boys

who are galloping around the soccer field

the tizzy on the grassy knoll is earsplitting

children run free in the shimmering sunlight

butterflies dance in the rays while

the stately teacher stands stolid on the sidewalk

a rippling whistle pulls the students to the pavement

the teacher bellows, "C'mon, let's go!"

a hush falls upon the exhausted kids

with distinct disciplined order they

trod back through the dreaded doorway

recess is over for another whole day

First by Hand--Then by Heart

You've led me into a world

That I thought I'd never find.

First you led me by my hand,

Then by my heart, soul, and mind.

Loving you has taught me the possibilities

That life is capable of dealing.

A chance meeting turned into a friendship,

Which turned into stronger feelings.

You've always been there for me

To wipe away my tears.

Only time will tell how long we'll be together,

Whether it be months or years.

But I can tell you right now

That I will love you the whole way through.

Because no matter what happens,

I know that my first love will always be you.

I've shared with you so many thoughts

And you always know how I feel.

No matter what the hurt is,

You're always there helping me heal.

Even though we've been together for awhile

Our relationship still feels as good as the start.

Thank you for leading me to a love like this,

First by hand, then by heart.

Emotions

I do not know what to feel or do?

I do not know what to think and say?

But I do know this is between me and you.

Everything between us seems like a play.

It's like you've memorized every word and line.

Every word that leaves your lips is sugar sweet.

My emotions all get tangled, like a great vine.

I try to control my heart but face a doomed defeat.

Do I trust my mind? Which doesn't know what to think.

Follow my heart? And go against the beat.

When I say "so long" my soul begins to sink.

What do I do? When my mind and heart compete.

My mind is cluttered but my heart wants you near.

And your sweet words are all I want to hear.

From Within

A beautiful house was built

Of the most beautiful brick.

Everyone would stare,

Wishing they lived there.

But as the years have gone

And the styles changed,

The beautiful house

Wasn't so beautiful.

It didn't know how to change,

And it really didn't care.

It was beautiful to itself.

It retained so many things,

So many secrets within.

No one understood it.

Everyone would drive on by.

No one wanted the grand tour.

They didn't want its secrets,

And they wanted it down.

But someone from within

Denied them the power

And showed them that it was theirs,

That you must look within

To see its meaning.

You must peer within the old walls

To find its true beauty.

Animals

The squirrels are running here and there

They seem to have no time to spare

The geese go South in a perfect V

The Jay abandons the old elm tree

All the animals seem to know

The time has come for the first snow

The big black bear goes to her den

When the weather warms, we'll see her again.

Some of the animals are here to stay

The deeper the snow the more they play

The children are waiting, noses against glass

Will this be enough snow to cancel class

The weatherman says three to four

The children hope for a whole lot more.

A Wrestler's World

As he strolls onto the mat to face his fear,

He asks himself, "Why am I here?"

Suddenly he realizes he has a job that needs done,

His opponent is waiting, his time has come.

He can hear the coach screaming with all his might,

He knew this was going to be a catfight.

This was the biggest match of his senior year.

He told himself to have no fear.

The two lion-like competitors battle fiercely on the mat,

Then he strides quick, quick like a cat.

The third period is over, but the score is zero-zero,

If he scores first, he is a hero.

The noise of the crowd is as loud as a jet.

Who will win? I wouldn't bet.

He steps on the line, on a mat in the Schott,

This is his chance to prove what he's got.

As the whistle blows, he attacks his opponent,

He takes him down, he has finally done it.

All the hard work he has put in at summer camp,

Helped him to become a state champ.

He walk off the mat in all of his glory,

He walks with pride claiming victory.

The Love Song of Studs

From the day I was born until the day I die,

Beautiful women will catch my eye.

Their mysterious ways can make some dents

In any man's confidence,

But without that risk, what fun would it be,

Like not baiting your hook and catching any fish in the sea?

So if you want the catch of the year,

Watch me work and have no fear.

Our Special Day

As I looked up,

The clouds were like fluffy pillows

Being tossed into the heavens.

The sun glistened on the sparkling waters

As we trotted side by side

On the sandy shore.

Hand in hand,

Just my daddy and me.

The fresh air engulfed us

As the tiny prickly stones

Squished between our toes.

The tepid waters gushed in,

And we chased them back hastily.

I soared through the air like an eagle

And felt so free

As daddy picked me up over his head

And swung me around in circles.

We stood together,

Just my daddy and me.

Our laughter echoed endlessly

In the still air.

The only other sounds to be heard:

Birds serenading us

With their beautiful melodies.

We had so much fun on our special day.

Just the two of us.

Just my daddy and me.

God's World

Such a pretty, unscathed world!

Being intruded upon and breaking down.

And, like a Golden Bear, a quake!

Breaking down and disintegrating--

While the days, the days are fading!

Mistaken

Last night my world was spinning all around,

and your heart was falling to the ground.

The pain and distress that I caused you

only made me feel more blue.

I was in pain and hurt, you see,

and it was nothing you had done to me.

I am afraid of what draws near,

in my mind it is not clear.

I'm just trying to think it through some,

but I should not fear what is to come.

For we must live in the now and here,

and there is no reason to shed a tear.

Even if my mind tells me wrong,

My hearts love is still strong.

For what comes, will be,

because in -our love holds the key.

Thinking

Thinking about thinking

Thinking about what other people are thinking

Never knowing if what we think is real is really real

Or just something seeping from your sloping spine.

Living life for the minute.

Not knowing if tomorrow will come

Or if you ever want it to.

Everybody trying to be perfect.

Trying to be this ultimate being.

But in all actuality

We are just another

Drip of water in the toilet bowl of society

Waiting to get flushed.

Autumn

It's Autumn again and the leaves fall from the trees.

The leaves change from apple green to golden brown.

The leaves on the crisp, cool ground crunch as you step down.

The wind bites your nose as you shiver from the breeze.

The thought of a warm, welcoming house puts your mind at ease.

The vibrant colored leaves cover the streets of the town,

Like a beautifully shimmering ballroom gown.

Darkness closes in as you hunt for your keys.

As you stare out your window, you catch a quick look

At the ghostly shadow of the withered old tree,

As it hovers above your two story house.

Then before going to bed you grab a small book,

And walk up the stairs with the clock chiming there.

You open the door and see a scared little mouse.

Forgiven

His last breath dissipates . . .

His precious life torn prematurely from his desperate clutches..

To society, he leaves behind a legacy

of Success, Fortune, and Fame.

They mourn his passing.

Worship his memory.

It was all he ever wanted,

the adoration and admiration

of his fellow beings

Their opinion was everything.

It is nothing.

His withered body sprawls below him

as his true self floats above

and this true self portrays a different legacy

of Corruption, Greed, and Arrogance

The pain he has inflicted

is now Vividly Visible

tenderly tangible

The memory of tears, shrieks, and horror

delves fiercely into his soul

Now, before his Judgment,

he feels the sagging weight of sin,

of lies, adultery, and merciless torture.

His trespasses are too heavy.

wrench him down-down-down.

Warmer . . . Warmer . . . Warmer . . .

Curiosity cautiously unbinds his eyes

and is welcomed by his wretched destiny.

Liquid flames fueled by agony

lick the essence of his being.

The searing eyes of ravenous demons

burn brightly with the evil threat of eternal justice.

Yes . . . now he regrets.

Remorse is easily elicited

in the face of the Devil

The dark angels await him, salivating over his arrival.

Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Days, Years, Centuries - many of these pass.

and still they wait.

Slowly, his sin trickles below, satiating their thirst for him

but with each drip of sin, hate, and evil.

The man becomes lighter.

until his soul is devoid of disobedience

and only Virtue remains.

The chains that bind him are released

and to the dismay of Evil

a comforting hand caresses his tattered soul.

His past is forgotten.

He ascends . . . inhales

and the blessing of Life

occupies him once more.

I can't help it I like to stare.

I just wish I could fit in.

I wish he would just go away.

Is this such a sin?

I can't stand him so let's not stay.

I feel excluded from the world.

No one likes him here.

From this earth I wish I was hurled.

That's why we exclude him, the fear.

No one tries to understand me.

His appearance is alarming.

The inside is what I wish they would see.

There is no way anyone could find him charming.

I feel like an animal at which everyone likes to stare.

I guess I've never given him a chance.

I guess they were right when they said the world is not fair.

I exclude him just by one glance.

The Shadows of Life

Am I happy or am I truly alone?

Do I put on a show? Do I act as I truly am?

Rather than the suck up I appear to be, am I really just longing for a friend?

In the shadows of life we live, the sun doesn't always shine through and hold the answer.

Am I yearning for your acceptance, or do I really just want to be my own self?

Am I really the band nerd I appear to be? Or am I

simply doing something that I love?

Maybe it's just the shadows of my life that the sun

doesn't shine through and hold the answers.

Lie in this very thing--

Golf

Watch the ball soar through the forests and trees,

Flying off the clubhead and heading towards the green,

Only to watch the ball crumple through the leaves,

And landing in the sand trap as though it were whipped cream.

When the soft green grass blows in the whistling winds,

The sun beats down on the tea box.

I hit the ball with class and boast to my friends,

As I tell them I am golfing without any socks.

Through the sun's gleaming rays I look hard to find my ball,

I snatch my tee from off the ground,

It is as though I have never hit the ball at all,

I listen and listen for the slightest sound.

The sensation of winning is so sweet,

Until I see the ball still lying at my feet.

High School

Best four years of my life?

I hope that's not true.

I'll admit there are good point,

But there are bad points, too.

People say high school is easy,

That teenagers have no stress.

They think that just because we're young,

Our problems are so much less.

But I am here to tell you,

This myth is certainly a lie.

My life is full of ups and downs,

But I continue to try.

I never give up, even though

That would be the easier route to take.

It would be so simple to go astray;

So many possible mistakes I could make.

Instead I hold my head up high,

I attempt to make it through.

High school is hard, but not impossible;

It all depends on your view.

Your outlook on life will affect the way

You react to everything.

Your life can be as good as a flowers,

Or as bad as a bee that stings.

High school isn't easy

And it isn't always fun.

But I'm sure I will appreciate it

When all is said and done.

The Tragic Crash

I bow my head

And pray to the Lord

About the crash I had

In my red Honda Accord

I am so afraid

Of the mistake I've made

Of the young life I took

She was in the first grade

My heart beats wild

As I go to my court case

Tears depart my eyes

As I see her still face

It should've been me

Who was on that bike

When the car crossed the curb

Oh, what it was like

My eyes started to droop

As I started to sleep

Boom, Crash, Ahhh . . .

She starts to weep

I run out of my car

To see her lying breathless

Her bike was under my tire

Oh Lord, it was such a mess

It's been six hard months

And I stand before the judge

I look at her parents . . .

They hold such a grudge

For ninety days now

I'll sit in my cell

And dwell on how my life

Became a living hell

Lord, I'm sorry for what I've done

I think of it every day

I just hope that I can tell her that

Some day in some way

For now bless her family

Each and every one

And grant them the strength

To deal with what I've done.

Christmas Golf

Back in October, a Christmas list I made,

A brand new set of golf clubs, before next year I played.

Then on Christmas morning, with my eyes I spied.

To an oblong box under the tree with a ribbon wrapped and tied.

I looked out the window and saw the ice and snow.

But in my heart I knew, golfing I would go.

I knew I'd need some special gear to play in this condition.

So I loaded up my golf bag to start a new tradition.

A broom to sweep the greens

A hammer for the tees.

Different colors for the balls.

For white I could not see.

When I arrived at the course

The ground was glistening white.

I didn't have to wait to play.

And tee times were no plight.

I swept away the piles of snow.

I pounded in my tee.

I placed the colored ball atop.

And swung away with glee.

The ball went soaring dawn the fairway,

And landed with a flop.

I scratched and clawed to dig it out.

But decided to take a drop.

My next shot went into the sand,

From there I thought I was dead.

Then at once I spotted him,

A man all dressed in red.

As I'm lining up my shot,

It's Santa Claus, I think

When the ball flew into the hole,

The man looked at me and winked.

I knew these clubs were going to work

Far I had made par.

But it was just too cold to play that day

So I headed for my car.

So if you want to golf on Christmas,

You'll have to break the rules.

When Santa's not watching you,

Use all of your extra tools.

The Piano

The pianist sits at the piano

Staring at the page of never-ending notes

Her confusion swells in her head

But she must continue to practice

In no time she is playing like a zombie

Not thinking about the surroundings

But only her music

After continuous practice the endless

Pages of sharps flats and naturals come

Together in beautiful music

As she comes to the end of her piece

She has become 88 pieces of ivory

Some black and some white

Some chime high pitches

And some below out low ones

As they jump up and down to form

Beautiful music

Darkness of Death

She lived her life to the fullest,

Not taking anything for granted.

She looked so happy on the outside.

But on the inside it was ripping her apart.

It has set in now she can't live like she used to.

She has trouble getting around the house.

She is tired and always in bed.

Darkness has set in . . . Death has taken over.

My Demise

I sit mute

Waiting to be revved up at some time in the near future.

But time goes by and I wait, dormant and inactive

Becoming more and more weary and exhausted.

I wait and wait for the chance

That my owner will sit in my plush leather seats.

Finally, after weeks and weeks he arrives.

He slowly unlocks the door with his whopping key

And ducks into the door frame and into his seat.

He turns the ignition and I start to purr.

I have not felt this good in months.

As my radio kicks in, "Stairway to Heaven" spews out of the speakers.

My engine putts as he shifts me into reverse.

I usually purr and shift smoothly into gear,

But not today for some unknown reason.

He then shifts me into drive and we slowly take off.

We make it all the way to my neighbor's house and Boom!

I cannot go on.

I seem to just not want to press on.

I have the feeling of a decrepit old man hobbling outside to get his mail

But falling short due to a lack of energy and the will to press on.

I suddenly feel hopeless, with nothing more to accomplish, and I die.

The Love Song of Life

For that one second, when I was in love,

The feelings were so intense.

The tingly feeling I got inside

Sent goosebumps shrilling through my body.

That gut feeling of just knowing

What love was like was so immense.

And after that moment, that one second of love,

When we both returned to our intimate palace,

Everything was lost.

I Can't

She's barely breathing now

My heart speeds as hers slows.

I heard the doctor saying, "She's not going to make it.

If we take her off the machine,

She'll die without pain, as much pain, really."

My wife and I were together 20 years.

25 in May.

How could I make the decision?

How could I let her go?

Golden Goal

The player sprints down the field.

All he sees are holes between the defenders

All he hears are his feet pounding and the crowd's surging passion

All he knows is that he must score

He lines up the ball, then with a powerful shot sends it speeding

Top Shelf, Cookie Jar

The 'keep tries to catch and then punch the ball from its line

But his fingers just graze the round rocket and it stays true to its course

As the ball bounces off the back of the net, the crowd erupts with passion and joy

He has done it

The player has come through.

The Relationship That Didn't Last

The relationship that didn't last

Was filled with so much pain

The first day they saw each other's presence

They knew their love would last forever, or thought

The relationship that didn't last

They stared across the room

Into the other's sweet, loving eyes

They held hands under the moon and stars

Thinking it would never end

The relationship that didn't last

When the day for them to part finally came

Tears and hugs were the only thing they remembered

The young, sweet girl got into the car with her parents

Suddenly they drove off into the sunset

The relationship that didn't last

They are now so far apart, one in Ohio, one in California

Their love is still true and sweet

Neither one is brave enough to reveal their true feelings

Their love would've stayed, if only they didn't have to part

That day lies in their memories, as the day they lost their love

To the relationship that didn't last.

"Work Makes One Free"

As the train noisily comes to a halt

Crowds are forced into the box-cars

With the slam of a door, the journey to slaughter begins

Bone against bone

Muscles which will soon wither away

Struggle to push sweat-drenched flesh away from their horror-

Stricken children

Whispers scream of unknown fears

Eyes struggle to identify a destination

But little light fights through the car, foreshadowing what is to

Come

As the train nosily comes to a halt

Crowds are forced out of the box-cars

With the slam of a gate, the journey to slaughter ends

Love

Love is a rose

Its aroma is sweet

When you meet the one

You scent the sweetness in them.

Its appearance is beautiful and attractive

When you meet each other's eyes, you are speechless.

Its touch is soft, yet so sharp

Intensifying the hard times in love,

Pricking your finger and then rubbing

The wound with the silky softness of the petal.

Its color is red

Symbolizing the color of your heart screaming

Outrageously in your chest; the pounding is a firecracker

And two hearts that are so much in love

They meet and become one.

Soul Mates

Across the room he stood alone from the crowd he was free,

And when I glanced at him I hoped so badly that he would notice me.

His head slightly turned toward my devious stare,

And when our eyes met, tension was in the air.

There was a feeling of embrace in our eyes,

While we both slowly let out a soft sigh.

We both walked toward each other one step at a time,

And I knew that this moment was truly divine.

Our conversation lasted for hours nothing could stop the speech,

And soon we found ourselves strolling along the beach.

I did not follow him and he did not follow me,

We walked hand in hand along the roaring sea.

The sparkle in his eyes and the gentleness of his hand

Would be something I'd remember as we journeyed through the sand.

We shared our deepest desires and our secrets were let out,

And we both understood what the other was talking about.

As the wind whistled, he leaned over for me to hear,

And he whispered softly, "I love you" in my ear.

It was love at first sight or possibly even fate

That brought us together, we were destined to be soul mates.

"Something Is Rotten in the State of Denmark"

My uncle-father is a villain

He killed my kingly dad

I hope he goes to hell

For God knows he has done bad

My life is full of complexities

I have so many decisions to make

However a spirit has made my choice easier

It's Claudius' life I will take

A New Love

Oh endless moment--

My happiness' delight!

The feelings I feel

On this wonderful night!

Emotions take soar--

New love from within.

Something almost forbidden

Once thought of as sin!

But this one is different--

It will not be as before.

My life has now changed--

And my heart begs for more!
