Teaching / Advising

Dr. Bennett teaches graduate-level courses in systems analysis, design, and evaluation (CSE, 8310), display and interface design (EID, 8320), and cognition/perception (Cog. & Reality, 8210).

These three courses constitute a unique specialization track in interface design. The goal is to provide students with tools, knowledge, and conceptual frameworks that will prepare them to meet the challenges of working in industrial, governmental, or academic settings.

The pedagogical approach taken in these classes is the "scientist-practitioner" model. Students are required to learn the theoretical underpinnings of effective interface design (i.e., concepts and principles). Students are also required to apply this knowledge during the completion of real-world design projects.

This specialization track provides students with a very unique set of skills and places them in a very favorable marketing position to compete for exciting and rewarding careers in high-tech settings.

Dr. Bennett has served as the graduate advisor for students who have been employed at a number of high-visibility organizations including Xerox, IBM, Intel, AT&T, Klein Associates, SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation), Veda, Delphi, USMA (the United States Military Academy at West Point), and MAAD (Micro Analysis and Design).
