- The program is entirely run by volunteers and
it is provided at no cost
to your school.
- An orientation meeting is held in August for
schools new to the program.
(However, details of the
program can be administered on an individual basis.)
- Each school must designate at least one coordinator
to run the program.
(This is typically the 6th
or 7th grade science teacher but a parent or other teacher may
fill this role.)
- The program typically runs from September
through May.
- Monthly after-school meetings are held on
your school grounds. The
program coordinator for your school schedules one woman scientist to
visit each month (a list of scientists/contact info is provided).
- The last meeting of the school year
(typically in May) involves an activity in which the girls create and
present posters titled “If I were going to be a scientist, I
would be a…”
The program can easily be implemented in your
school.
