FULL-TEXT INDEXES, JOURNAL COLLECTIONS, eBOOKS, & IMAGES

  1. Academic Search Premier providdes full-text for more than 3,400 scholarly publications in health, education, business, science, and social issues. Coverage goes back to 1975; publications are updated daily. Relevant journal titles include College Student Journal, Journal of Employment Counseling, Journal of Mental Health Counseling, Psychosocial Rehabilitation Journal, and School Counselor.

  2. LexisNexis is a full-text news, business, legal, and court information service. It also picks up some medical literature. Altogether, there are over 1.3 billion documents available through LexisNexis. Information is updated constantly, though coverage of some older material goes back approximately 20 years. This resource does NOT provide much scholarly &/or research-oriented coverage in psychology & counseling but does have very current news as well as state, national, & international laws.

  3. OhioLINK Electronic Journal Center (EJC) provides access to full-text articles from over 3,000 journals published by Elsevier Science, Johns Hopkins University Press, Kluwer, Springer-Verlag, John Wiley & Sons, along with 170 Academic Press journals. Most coverage begins with 1995, though older issues are constantly being added. People in Human Services areas would be most interested in the category listing journals in Social Sciences which includes journals like Addictive Behaviors, The Arts in Psychotherapy, Child Abuse & Neglect, Cognitive Psychology, Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, Journal of School Psychology, Learning and Motivation, and Research in Development Disabilities.

  4. Health & Wellness Resource Center provides access to articles in 400+ health sciences periodicals, selected articles from 2,200 general interest magazines, 700 full-text consumer health pamphlets, & 12 reference books. Many of the resources are full-text. Coverage varies with type of publication.

  5. JSTOR is a collection of full-text journals in the social sciences & humanities which includes complete backfiles of articles in 120+ scholarly journals, but nothing more current than 2-5 years old. Coverage in counseling & psychology literature is sparse but improving. Several titles of interest include, Journal of Health & Social Behavior, and Family Planning Perspectives.

  6. Contemporary Women's Issues provides an international focus to women's issues, from 1992+, with full-text access to articles in over 1,500 journals, newspapers, government reports, non-profit organizations, & international agencies. The material is relevant & timely for researchers in social science areas. Titles of interest to those in Human Services include Family Life Matters, Journal of American College Health, Journal of Gender Studies, Journal of Social Psychology, Marriage & Family Review (abstract), Midlife Woman, SIECUS Report, Training & Development, Women & Therapy (abstract).

  7. GenderWatch is a full text database that focuses on the impact of gender across the spectrum. It includes over 140 academic and scholarly publications, along with magazines, newspapers, conference proceedings, etc. Coverage is from the late 1970's to present.

  8. Ethnic Newswatch is a comprehensive collection of articles, reviews, editorials, from 1985+, in newspapers, magazines, newsletters, journals from ethnic, minority, and native presses not well-covered in the mainstream media. This database offers a broad diversity of perspectives & viewpoints. Both English & Spanish language search options are available for researchers.

  9. NetLibrary includes a collection of over 14,000 recently published full-text academic &/or commercial books (e-books) along with many older books in the public domain.

  10. Digital Media Center Databases includes over 40,000 art & architecture images from commercial providers, consortia, and selected OhioLINK institutions.
