Finding Encyclopedias and Other Reference Books

Reference Universe allows you to search for keywords in a large number of encyclopedias and other reference books, in both electronic and print format

If there is an open book icon, the book is available at Wright State. Click the icon to find information, including a link to the electronic book when available
Click on the title of the book to find more about it. If the book is available through OhioLINK, there may be a link to it on that page
The Legend box shows which icons to click to find more about the contents of the book

Finding Books in the Library Catalog

You can search for keywords, that is, words found anywhere in the description of a book (often including in the table of contents). Example: date rape

Each book is also assigned standardized subject headings. When you find a record for a book that interests you, you can find similar books by clicking on any highlighted subject listed in the book's record. In the example above, when you look at the subjects toward the bottom of the record, you see Acquaintance rape, and you can click on that to find more books.

If books you need are not available in the WSU Libraries, click on OhioLINK Central on your search page to connect to the OhioLINK network.

Finding Dayton Daily News Articles

LexisNexis Academic will be your best source. To limit your search to Dayton Daily News articles:

Click on the tab that says Sources
In the box on the right labeled Find a Source, enter Dayton Daily News
Click in the box beside Dayton Daily News
Click on the red OK - Continue box on the right
Use the dropdown menu to choose your date range
On a page with a list of articles, click on the View dropdown menu and choose Expanded List to see the context of the keywords you searched
Note: Coverage of the Dayton Daily News starts with 1994

* Find It! means that you can click for information on an article's availability online or in print at the WSU libraries or OhioLINK.

LexisNexis Academic - In a news search, include Editorial as a keyword

Finding Statistics

LexisNexis Statistical - indexes statistics produced by many organizations, including the U.S. government, and includes links to many full-text resources
