Finding Books in the Library Catalog

You can start your search for books on the University Libraries homepage under Search our Catalog.

You can search for keywords, that is, words found anywhere in the description of a book (often including the table of contents). Example:

Each book is also assigned standardized subject headings. When you find a record for a book that interests you, you can find similar books by clicking on any highlighted subject listed in the book's record.

Here are some subject headings that may be useful:

If books you need are not available in the WSU Libraries, click on OhioLINK Central on your search page to connect to the OhioLINK network, and request books there.

Finding Periodical and Newspaper Articles

Ethnic NewswatchFull text of articles from ethnic newspapers in the U.S. and other publications, including some scholarly journals
Academic Search CompleteCitations to articles in general interest periodicals and some scholoarly journals. Full text is available for many articles. *Includes Find It!
LexisNexis AcademicFull text of newspaper articles (as well as legal and business information)
PAIS InternationalCitations to articles in professional journals dealing with public policy issues. Also includes government publications and books. *Includes Find It!
Social Sciences Citation IndexCitations to articles in about 1700 scholarly journals. *Includes Find It!
*Find It! means that you can click to find information on an article's availability online or in print at the WSU libraries or OhioLINK.
