Ordinances and Codes
At the municipal level, ordinances perform the function of both statutory and administrative law.
Ordinances are codified (that is, compiled by subject) in municipal codes.
In Ohio there are several types of courts which have jurisdiction below the state court level.
Municipal courts conduct preliminary hearings in felony cases and have jurisdiction over felony cases.
They may handle civil cases when the amount is not over $15,000.
County courts are similar in function to municipal courts and serve areas of a county not under a municipal court.
Mayor's courts hear cases involving ordinances of municipalities.
