Text: The Study of Economics: Principles,
Concepts & Applications, by Turly Mings, The Dushkin Publishing
Co., 6th edition
Course Objectives: The objective of this
course is to provide students with a general background of
economics. The course makes extensive use of interactive tools and multimedia such as
online tests, quizzes, and articles. In addition, Astound presentations
containing video and sound step students though each chapter.
On-line, students access sample article write-ups, their grades,
the syllabus, and supplementary articles with questions and answers.
The course even allows students to chat with other students in
an interactive chat room and participate in an on-line discussion
group. Students will learn about economic methods, the
economy's output, the consumer, and other related subjects.
Why Take This Course?: The flexibility of this course
is particularly helpful for students who have schedule conflicts
with other courses or job commitments (this course is offered
completely on-line - you never have to go on campus to take
this course). You access all the materials
and take quizzes and tests on line at your convenience.
The course uses state-of-the-art technology that enhances the
material. The presentations and supplementary materials
utilize audio, video, and a question and answer format that makes the
course interactive and fun.
Who Should Take This Course?: Students
that are self-motivated, have access to the internet, and prefer
open book tests and quizzes.
Who Should Not Take This Course?:
Students who need a regularly scheduled class times to motivate
them to learn. Students that have never used a computer
and have never been on the internet. Students who would prefer
more points allocated to exams and less to short quizzes and
article assignments.
Availability: Only a limited number of students will
be able to enroll in the course, so sign up as soon as possible. This
course has closed every quarter it has been offered!
