COURSE OBJECTIVES:

                Schneider, Gary P.; Electronic Commerce; Fourth Annual Edition; Course Technology, 2003

METHODOLOGY:  The course framework will be a combination of lecture about E-commerce strategies and  lab in designing and creating web sites.  The students will complete workshop exercises in the text using the tools discussed.  The results of these exercises will be due during the quarter.

Each student will then create a web site on a fictitious company or business.  The site will reflect many of the topics and tools used during the quarter.  This final project solutions will be presented as a customer proposal with a written document describing the site content as well as a working site.

ASSIGNMENTS: Text material and topics are assigned on the attached schedule. It is assumed the
student has read the assignment prior to class and will use the lecture to clarify difficult materials.
Questions and other material at the end of the assigned chapters are assumed to be included in
the readings. Any changes to the schedule and homework assignments will be given in class. If
you must miss class for any reason, it is your responsibility to get the notes and find out what you missed.

 

PROJECT:  The final project will be to create a web site for a fictitious company or business.  Certain types of pages will be required for the site and will correspond to the exercises we have done in class.  The site should be customized with your own name and will be posted on a special site set up for this class.  More details on this final project will be given during the quarter.

EXAMS:  Materials included in the exams will be taken from the texts, article reviews and class
lecture/discussions. Exams will be administered on the dates scheduled. Please note these dates
on the class schedule sheet. Students are not permitted to retain these exams. The tests will be
multiple choice and essay. The average of the two exams will comprise 50% of your grade.
Unannounced quizzes may be given during the quarter. They will be counted as part of the exam grade. No make-up quizzes will be given.

90.0-100.0 A
80.0-89.0 B
70.0-79.0 C
60.0-69.0 D
Less than 60.0 F

POLICIES:
Testing: Examinations are expected to be taken at the times scheduled, and make-up work will
be permitted only for the following reasons:
1) Death of an immediate family member.
2) Personal illness requiring attention by physician.
3) Illness of an immediate family requiring your personal attention.
4) Military TDY.
5) Travel out-of-town required by your employer.
6) An emergency and/or situation at the discretion of the instructor.

Attendance: Regular class attendance is expected. If a student misses class, the student is responsible for obtaining class notes from another student. Case Study homework handed in late will receive a 10% point reduction per class late.  Policy Revision: I will reserve the right to make changes to the syllabus or to the above stated procedures. If changes are made, the student will be advised as part of the in-class lecture.
