COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course provides an introduction to
e-business strategy and the development of e-business solutions. It
examines electronic methods of delivering products, services and exchanges
between organizations (B2B) and consumers (B2C) on the national and global
level. It also addresses effective business processes within the
organization using electronic methods. To better understand the technical
and operational issues, the student will develop an e-business solution to a
case study using current tools and technology.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
METHODOLOGY: The course framework will be a combination of lecture about E-business strategies and lab in designing and creating e-business solutions. The students will complete workshop exercises using the tools discussed in class. The results of these exercises will be due during the quarter.

PROJECT: A individual student project will be to create an e-business solution for a fictitious company or business. Certain types of pages will be required for the site and will correspond to the exercises we have done in class. Details of this will be given during the quarter.
EXAMS: Materials included in the exams will be taken from the
texts, article reviews and class lecture/discussions. There will also be a
hands-on exam of topics covered in the lab using Dreamweaver CS3. The average of all exams will
comprise 55% of your grade. The lecture exams will be a combination of essay and
multiple choice. All multiple choice exams will be
given using WebCT. The WebCT
portion of the exam will be done first. Then the computer must be turn off
before a copy of the essay portion will be given to the student. Unannounced
quizzes may be given during the quarter. No make-up quizzes will be given.

POLICIES:
Testing: Examinations are expected to be taken at the times
scheduled, and make-up work will be permitted only for the following
reasons:
1) Death of an immediate family
member.
2) Personal
illness requiring attention by physician.
3) Illness of an immediate family
requiring your personal attention.
4) Military TDY.
5) Travel out-of-town required by
your employer.
6)
An emergency and/or situation at the discretion of the instructor.
Attendance: Regular class attendance is expected. If a student misses class, the student is responsible for obtaining class notes from another student.
All homework is
due at the beginning of class. Case Study homework handed in late will receive a
10% point reduction per class late. I will NOT receive late
homework if it has already been graded and handed back.
Policy
Revision: I will reserve the right to make changes to the syllabus or to the
above stated procedures if deemed appropriate. If changes are made, the
student will be advised as part of the in-class lecture
