Tom, Jess and Charlie each received a Distinguished Flying Cross for the sinking of the Japanese carrier on October 25, 1944.

This was Tom's second Distinguished Flying Cross. In addition he received six Air Medal for his service as a TBM crewman in Air Group 15 during World War II.

On November 11, 1999 Tom Marshall was inducted into the Enlisted Combat Aircrew Roll of Honor for his distinguished service during World War II as a Navy airman. This plaque honoring Tom's service to his country is displayed on the hanger deck of the U.S.S. Yorktown CV 10 in Charleston, SC
