Feb. 10 Left Ulithi. Believed on way to make strike on Japan and assist in invasion of Iwo Jima.  
Feb. 11 - 12 Gunnery practice.  
Feb. 13 Refueled. * 400 Miles NE of Luzon - (20-58 N 148-43 E)
Feb. 15 Launched out today that target is Tokyo. Weather is getting cold as hell. 1 Betty1 shot down 40 miles away. * SE of Tokyo - (29-50 N 146-24 E)

Feb. 16 Launched VF1 sweeps and strikes on Tokyo. Shot down some bogies2 around disposition. Strikes got 245 in air and 140 on ground. Did some damage to shipping. * 125 Miles SE of Tokyo - (34-16 N 141-40 E)

Feb. 17 Strikes and sweeps on Tokyo. Still cold as hell. Shot down 74 planes and destroyed 32 on the ground. Much damage to airstrips and hangers. 1 CVL1 hit by 6-500 lb. bombs. 1. CVL -Small Carrier<
Feb. 18 Launched strikes on Bonin. * Battle of Iwo Jima began.
* 75 Miles NW of Iwo Jima - (29-44 N 140-29 E)
Feb. 19 Launched sweeps on Iwo Jima. Went to G.O.1 at 7:30. Had 8 raids come in. They dropped flares but couldn't find us. Missouri2 shot 1 bogie3. Also VFN4 got one. I saw one burning. * Battle of Iwo Jima Feb. 19 to Mar. 28

Feb. 20 Refueled. * 75 Miles W of Iwo Jima - (25-14 N 140-00 E)
Feb. 21 Launched VF1 sweeps on Chichi Jima and Haho Jima. Cruisers left to bombard Iwo Jima. More bogies2 tonight. All ships open fire. We didn't get any but they didn't bother us any more that night. T.G.3 supporting invasion reported they are under attack. 1. VFN - U.S. Navy Fighter

Feb. 22 Launched C.A.P.1 to (75) mile from Iwo Jima, Marines. All having a tough time. Fighting is suppose to be more fierce than Tarawa. Saratoga2 hit yesterday by 4 bogies3. Also two CVEs4 were hit 1. C.A.P. - Combat Air Patrol

Feb. 25 Strikes on Tokyo. T.F.1 58 got 42 planes in air, 107 on ground, also sunk few ships and damaged airstrip installations. * 175 Miles SE of Tokyo - (30-07 N 142-40E)

Feb. 26 Had four to five bogies1 today but we chased them away. 1. bogies - Enemy aircraft
Feb. 27 Refueled. Few bogies1 today but also were chased. * 100 miles SW of Iwo Jima - (23-08 N 140-41 E)
