Biography Dr. J. Michael Bernstein is the Assistant Dean for Administration of the Raj Soin College of Business and an Instructor of Management and Business Law at Wright State University. Before teaching at Wright State, Dr. Bernstein had a thirty-one year career as a Magistrate. He served last at the Common Pleas Court of Mercer County, Ohio and has also spent time as a United States Magistrate. At the request of the Common Pleas Court in Greene County, he currently serves as a visiting Magistrate to hear special cases. Prior to assuming the bench, Dr. Bernstein worked in private practice and served as a business and management consultant to numerous corporations. Dr. Bernstein earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with majors in psychology, sociology, and history and his Juris Doctor Degree from the Ohio Northern University. He also attended the University of Cincinnati. He has completed postgraduate studies, courses, and certifications offered by the National Judicial College and the National Counsel of Juvenile and Family Court Judges. Both colleges are associated with the University of Nevada and the University of Memphis. Dr. Bernstein is certified as a Mediator, has taught numerous courses for the Ohio Judicial College, and has served as Vice-Chair of the Ohio Judicial College. He has also served on the Ohio Supreme Court Board of Character and Fitness. He has been recognized by both the Ohio Supreme Court and the Ohio Association of Magistrates for contributions to the judicial profession and judicial education. Ohio Northern University's Claude W. Pettit College of Law inducted him into the Order of the Barristers for service to the college and recognized him as an Outstanding Moot Court Judge. Dr. Bernstein is also a certified firefighter, emergency medical technician, and hazardous material technician recently retiring after 37 years of service as a volunteer firefighter.
