Study Guide for the Essay

The assignment is to write an answer of at least 300-400 words to the second essay question from the Exam 1 list:

Describe three ideals of the Greek intellectual revolution, and explain how Socrates exemplifies these elements in his life and teaching.

This question asks for description and examples, though this does not mean that it should be divided into "description" and "examples" sections. It should rather be divided into three parts (paragraphs). Each part should consist of one of the three ideals AND the way in which Socrates's life or ideas reflect this ideal. Not all these ideals will be equal, and you should think about which ones are broader in significance, and therefore ought to be considered first.
