Guide to Biographical Brief

Your task is to research your assigned person and discover the following information about his or her life:

• When and where he/she lived

• Important events or other conditions that your person faced

• The two most important accomplishments

• His/her place in history

In a two-page paper, summarize your findings in manner that is as clear and complete as possible in such a short space.

Purpose:

This project is a first step towards two ends. One is the essay, which will be a more involved assignment related to your chosen person. The other is helping to educate your fellow classmates during class discussion when either your person or a related topic comes up. The instructor will be able to turn to you to explain what your person thought or did, or even what they might have thought about something if it had come up in his/her lifetime.

Sources:

You must have at least two sources. List those sources at the end of the paper. Both sources must be published sources. No internet research is permitted! This means you will have to go to the library.

Why such a request? First, so that you will have an opportunity to use the library. Second, because printed sources are generally better than the internet.
