 Week 5

Primary Vs. Secondary Sources.  Provides a relatively clear explanation of the differences between the two for the type of researching and writing in our fields.  Remember that not all sources are created equal.  You must judge the power to convince of a source because that is what your reader will constantly be doing.

Primary and secondary sources from the historians perspective.  Other fields will view primary and secondary sources differently.  If you ever look at Composition and Rhetoric or TESOL from a historical perspective, you'll  undoubtedly use the historian's take on the two.  There's even a tertiary source: Click on this link for an explanation.

Writing Your Research Prospectus.  I like the detail in this web page.  The writer, Anne Bliss, claims that a prospectus does not include a writer's thesis.  For this class and  in other classes in Composition and Rhetoric and in TESOL, a working thesis will be required or suggested for the prospectus.  Please note this difference.
