Computer Classroom Policies

Since your class is being held in a computer classroom, you must follow these procedures.

  1. Before the second day of class, be sure that you are able to log on to your Novell and Unix accounts on your own.  Otherwise, you will be unable to participate in classroom activities, resulting in no credit for participation for those days.  If you are having trouble, get a friend to coach you or go to the Help Desk for assistance.

  2. Make sure your home software is compatible with the classroom software (Word for Windows 98 or above).  If not, you can obtain Windows 2000 from the Help Desk in the library.

  3. Save all of your work in as many places as possible:

    • On 2 IBM formatted disks (an original and a backup)

    • On your C drive or in "My Documents" in your home computer

    • In your user space on the University network

  4. Bring your work to class every day both in hard copy and on your 2 disks.

  5. Always have your flex card with you when you come to class and keep enough in it to pay for in-class printing.  (If you don't have an account already, you can open one at the Bursar's Office in the Student Union.)

  6. Use the computers for class activities only.  Anyone caught surfing the net or reading private email during class time will lose all participation credits for that day.

  7. Make sure to log off your computer before you leave the classroom.  If you do not, others may use and abuse your account.
