Profile:

Dr. Brian D. Lyons is an Associate Professor of Management in the Raj Soin College of Business at Wright State University. He joined the Wright State University faculty in Fall 2011 after four years within the Craig School of Business at California State University, Fresno. He teaches MBA and undergraduate courses in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Performance Management, Staffing, Compensation, and Leadership.

His research interests involve HR certification, Web recruiting, the predictive validity of selection instruments, counterproductive work and off-duty behavior, and leadership effectiveness. His research has been published in journals such as Human Resource Management, Human Performance, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, International Journal of Selection and Assessment, Journal of Managerial Psychology, and Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies. He has presented 30 papers at national conferences such as the Academy of Management and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. His work has been cited by a variety of media outlets such as ESPN, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, AOL News, CBS Sports, Yahoo! Sports, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tennessean, Deadspin, New York Daily News, Dayton Daily News, and Philadelphia Daily News.

Prior to entering academia, he conducted HR and management research for the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the American Institutes for Research (AIR). While at AIR, he performed contract work for a variety of public and private sector clients such as The College Board, National Center for Education Statistics, Association of American Medical Colleges, National Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, National Imagery and Mapping Agency (now National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency), and the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center.

He earned his B.A. from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale (1999), M.S. from University of Baltimore (2002), and Ph.D. (2007) in Organizational Studies from the University at Albany, State University of New York.
