PDAs and accessibility - What do you know? Two groups in medicine are working on creating Web sites that are specifically for PDAs. Here are problems/info encountered so far:
Check for these outdated URLs/studsvcs should be /students/univ_college should be used for university college and /ucie should be used for University Center for International Education. **** Be sure to take down all old pages; they can still be accessed! *** Nutter Center DisplayNutter Center Display with touch-screen monitors is up and running, although not completely finished - waiting to add WSU Web address. If you're at Nutter, stop by and take a look!Human Resources FAQHuman Resources FAQ project is nearly complete. Uses a MySQL database for frequently asked questions and answers - queried with PHP. Will send URL once it's up and running.Student Handbook UpdateFaculty Handbook out of date. Donna to contact faculty senate.Undergrad catalog / majors listThe Web team is expanding the list of undergraduate majors (located at http://www.wright.edu/majors/) to include degree requirements (from 2001-2003 Undergrad catalog) and information on jobs/salaries.Recent studies indicate prospective undergrad students are looking for info on majors, financial aid, scholarships, eventual jobs. Those in charge of college Web sites may want to link to the list of majors (which will also link to the grad list of "programs of study" as well as the Academic Departments and Programs listing) as well as to the Financial Aid Web site (http://www.wright.edu/financialaid/). Check the Academic Departments and Programs listing (http://www.wright.edu/academics/prog/) to see if your department's listing is correct. If you don't already have a generic e-mail address, you can request one from patricia.vendt@wright.edu -- the request must come from the department chair, and it must include the name of a full-time staff or faculty member to whom the mail from the generic address will be directed. Course descriptions updateDynamic listings are being worked on. Any current links will eventually need to be redirected. You will be notified once new system is ready to go.Current list of virtual servers on the main Web server
Points of PrideWSU "points of pride" are now circulating on the main Web page. If your department has a point of pride, send it to cindy.young@wright.edu, so the Communications & Marketing staff can follow up with the appropriate person for more detail.Misc.Default WSU e-mail address will move to Help Desk once HEAT program (customer support software) is fully operational.Registered IP claims on wrightstate, wright-state, wrightstateraiders and wright-state-raiders (because we own the trademark for these word combinations) for .biz domains. Will register for these names and also same ones for .info. Donna Hamilton, Cindy Young, Terry Anderson, Patricia Vendt and Sally Clayton will develop a DNS strategy to determine whether further purchases are necessary. Currently Web team is developing new sites for academic areas to help improve their accessibility and effectiveness. Departments are encouraged to use this free service. One advantage for academic departments who move is that we'll provide a shortened URL, e.g. www.wright.edu/music/ . Many sites, including CaTS, are moving to the main WSU server. Web team is currently working with Music, Theatre, Center for Economic Education, Kettering Center and others. WebCT going to SSL sometime between September 4 and 6. |
