The new university mark, officially adopted in 1998, depicts the first flight by the Wright brothers, for whom the university is named. It replaces the seal as the primary mark.

The official Wright State athletic mascot, Rowdy Wolf, was unveiled in 1997 to represent the Wright State Raiders athletic teams.

Derived from the primary athletic mark, the children's athletic mark depicts a wolf cub for children's apparel and spirit items.
