Guides & Standards - Style - Web Template

* You may also use an automated process to create your personal Web page.

Get the template file from the Web server

  1. If you do not have access to the main Web server (www.wright.edu) and an FTP (file transfer protocol) client, bring up the appropriate template in your browser and select File | Save As from the menu bar.

  2. If you do have access to the main Web server, open an FTP session using the hostname www.wright.edu. Change directory to /www/wsu/web/guides/. Download the file template.html (make sure to download the file in ASCII mode).

  3. Departments may request a customized departmental template, which includes a banner graphic with your department name. Send e-mail to webteam@wright.edu with your department name (exactly as it should appear on the banner) and a departmental contact e-mail address (must be a staff or faculty member or a "generic" departmental e-mail address which is directed to a staff or faculty member).

Modify the template in an HTML editor

We suggest using Contribute, which is available for a small fee through CATS.

Note: Templates use a style sheet, maintained by the WSU Web Team, to define font face, size and color. To maintain consistency, do not modify the font sizes or colors within your HTML document or FrontPage's font drop down menu. For heading size fonts, use H2, H3, etc. to create boldface, larger type. For example, if you use an <H2> or <H3> tag, it will appear as follows.

    What you see:

This is an example of H2

HTML Source Code: <h2>This is an example of H2</h2>

    What you see:

This is an example of H3

HTML Source Code: <h3>This is an example of H3</h3>

    • Click on the HTML view of your page (tab is at bottom left of window).

    • At the bottom of your page, replace the line:

This page was last updated Thu. Jan-10-02, 10:29 , by (initials).

    • Select Page Properties

    • Choose the Custom Tab in the Page Properties box
