Wright State UniveristyVirtual Tour - Text DescriptionsRuss Engineering Center This is the largest academic building on campus, as well as one of the newest. As with many buildings at Wright State, the entrance is unique. The Russ Engineering Center focuses on curvy lines and round, smooth edges. The entrance is tucked under a dramatic outward sweeping third-story pierced with three, long rectangular openings. A similar curve with pierced openings can be seen to the right of the entrance and protruding out well beyond the glass doors. The far right end of the building has a smooth and rounded edge and sports a long vertical window in three sections. The circular and curvaceous theme is carried beyond the building itself and incorporated into the rounded barrel-like stands for the lights that illuminate the walkway to the main door. And finally, at the beginning of this pathway is a circular stone plaza defined by two huge arcs which double as benches. In the center of the plaza is the only deviation from this curvaceous theme - a bronze sculpture, titled The Bent. Erected by Tau Beta Pi, National Engineering Honor Society, the main component is a geometric triangle. The south side of the Student Union can be seen to the far right of the main entrance of the Russ Engineering Center. |
