Stepping inside this building allows the student to visually experience a microcosm of the arts: to the left is the Festival Playhouse, Theatre Department, and box office; to the distant right is the Recital Hall, Concert Hall, and Music Department; and to the immediate right is the Art/Art History Department and University Art Galleries. Display cases on either side of the entrance hall showcase upcoming and recent concerts, plays, and art exhibitions. Light floods this space from a high vaulted glass ceiling; the free-hanging lights and the beams of the ceiling together cast an artistic pattern on the carpet below. In addition, the second-floor loft area overlooking the entrance hall is a popular gathering place for Fine and Performing Art students. Here, they can study, socialize, rehearse, or enjoy the view from the cathedral-style window.
