Student Services

At Wright State we want you to have the best experience… from how to pay for food (we have a meal plan for that) to cars on campus (yes, EVERYONE can have a car). There’s lots to learn about staying healthy, staying safe and loving life.

Health Services

Student Health Services is your on-campus health center which provides comparable services to those offered at a family practice setting.  The staff includes nurse practitioners with prescription authority, a part-time physician for more serious problems, and RNs for minor illnesses, injuries and immunizations.

All registered students are eligible to use the services at the Student Health Center, however, third party insurance billing is not available.  Students will receive a statement to submit to an outside insurance company if applicable.

Wright State students who wish to purchase Student Health Insurance can do so at the time of registration.  Learn more about Student Health Insurance.

Residential Students and International Students are required to have a medical history form on file with Student Health Services.  Please contact 937-775-2552 or visit Student Heath Services ( for more information and a printable form.

Campus Safety

The Wright State University Police Department (WSUPD) is responsible for ensuring a safe environment for all people on campus. Wright State police officers work hand-in-hand with the local police forces to provide overall security for students and the community around the campus.

Officers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are also emergency phones throughout the campus area and an escort service for students.

In an effort to help students become more aware of issues that relate to campus safety, the department offers workshops and classes in crime prevention and drug and alcohol prevention.

The crime statistics and daily crime log are available online. And, the WSUPD welcomes inquiries about the state of conditions and safety at the university. For more information, including the most recent safety notices and information, please visit the Wright State University Police Department Web site.

You can also request a printed copy of the annual crime statistics by contacting the Office of Admissions at: (937) 775-5700 or toll-free 1-800-247-1770.

SAFE Escorts
The Wright State University Police Department's SAFE escort service is designed to enhance your safety and peace of mind and provide a greater sense of security for anyone who feels unsafe while walking alone on campus.

The goal of the SAFE escort service is to deter assaults, sexual harassment, verbal abuse, or other harassment while you are walking from one location on campus to another. The SAFE escort service is a walking escort and you should assume that you will be given a walking escort. Learn more about the SAFE escort service program.

Emergency Phones

At Wright State University, the safety of our faculty, staff, students, and visitors is our first priority. Besides the presence of WSUPD police officers and security guards, numerous emergency phones have been placed around campus. For immediate assistance, each one of these phones has a button that can be pushed to alert the WSU Police Department.

Emergency Text Messaging Service

Wright State provides an opt-in text messaging service for campus emergencies like extreme weather. Learn more about joining the Emergency Text Messaging Service

Counseling & Wellness

We all can experience personal problems that lead us to feel confused, anxious, overwhelmed, sad, and/or depressed. Counseling and Wellness Services is here to help and offers a warm, relaxed, and confidential place for students to talk.

Students can meet with a psychologist and participate in therapies in individual, couples, family, and/or group modalities.

In addition to therapy, the center also provides support for:

  • Athletic and academic performance enhancement
  • Test anxiety
  • Stress management
  • Time management
  • Career indecision
  • Learning disability testing and assessment
  • Psychological assessment
