What to bring with you to Orientation

There are some things you will want to make sure you bring with you to Orientation to help you get RaiderReady for fall semester and to have a great day.

  • Driver’s License or State-Issued Identification—you can’t receive your Wright1 ID Card without showing proper identification.
  • College transcripts—if you’ve attended a college while enrolled in high school, please bring your transcripts with you so that your advisor is aware of this information. It will help you and your advisor create a schedule that captures work you’ve already completed!
  • Any external scholarship information—if you’ve received scholarships from other sources outside of Wright State, please be sure to bring that information with you. If you’ve received scholarship checks, please bring those too! You’ll take that information to RaiderConnect after you’ve arrived on campus for the day.
  • Any financial aid paperwork that is ready for submission—Save a stamp! Bring all of your financial aid documents with you to orientation. RaiderConnect can assist you with the completion of forms in case you have questions, and they can be sure the paperwork is ready for processing.
  • Your payment for Orientation—if you elected to pay for orientation later, and haven’t done so, please bring your $20 with you to orientation. You can pay by cash, check, or credit card.
  • Unofficial AP scores, if you have them. Your advisor can use your unofficial scores to help you start in the best class at Wright State. Be sure to send your official scores to Wright State's Admissions Office to receive credit.
  • Questions! Make sure that you bring any questions you have with you! We’re here to answer them!

Orientation Basics

Orientation Basics

All Orientation dates have passed. Please plan to meet with an advisor in University College during open advising. Open advising is available Monday-Friday, August 11-29 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in 180 University Hall.

Orientation is an introduction to life and learning at Wright State University. Pre-registration is required. Here's the info you need to know BEFORE registering for the event.

Orientation is required

All students under the age 23 who have never attended college are required to attend Orientation. If you have 24 or more credit hours, please contact University College at (937) 775-5750 to inquire about your Orientation and registration options.

Students in the Post-Secondary Enrollment Option Program (PSEO) or Honors Program

If you have earned college credits through the PSEO, you will still need to attend Orientation. Be sure to send your official college transcripts to Wright State or bring a copy with you to Orientation.

Pre-service interview for students with disabilities

Don't forget to contact the Office of Disability Services to schedule your pre-service interview. The pre-service interview is designed to assess disability-related needs and to plan services accordingly. Students are encouraged to contact the Office of Disability services well in advance (at least six months, if possible) of their planned entry date. You can reach the Office of Disability Services at (937) 775-5680, fax (937) 775-5699, or TTY (937) 775-5844.

Learning Communities

When you register for Orientation, you will be asked to select your top choices for your Learning Community. A Learning Community is a group of 20 to 25 first-year students who take two or more classes together. All of the students in your Learning Community share a similar program of study or other interest. Together, you will explore career options and learn about campus programs and services. Choose which one sounds best to you when you register.

Parents, spouse, or other family members welcome!

Your parents or other family members are encouraged to come along with you, as they are an important part of most students' support system. You and two guests are included in your $20 registration fee. Be sure to have your method of payment available when you register.

Best parts about Orientation?

You get to connect with some current students, other new students, and you also receive your Wright1 Card student ID (new Wright State students only). Your Wright1Card identifies you as a Raider and also entitles you to student discounts at places like movie theaters. You will also confirm your Fall Semester schedule and learn about course selection, academic advising, student services, computer accounts, and student life.
