2011 Annual General Meeting
Featuring guest speaker Manal M. Omar. Manal is the current Director of Iraq Programs at United States Institute of Peace. Previously she has worked as the Regional Program Manager for the Middle East for Oxfam where she responded to the emergency humanitarian crisis in Palestine and Lebanon, while supporting ongoing work in Yemen, Iraq, and Egypt. She has also worked for Women for Women International as the Regional Coordinator for Afghanistan, Iraq, and Sudan. Manal has carried out training programs in Yemen, Bahrain, Afghanistan, Sudan, Lebanon, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Kenya, and many other countries. Ms. Omar has been profiled in many media outlets including the Washington Times, BBC, NPR and Newsweek. Manal has been awarded the Silver Medal for the Economis/Shell 2001 Global Competition for her paper titled "Gender Mobility: The Long and Winding Road to Women and Transportation". She has authored several articles and books including her new title Barefoot in Baghdad.
