Report to Faculty Senate, Meeting of February 3, 2003

The Curriculum Committee met on January 13 as previously scheduled and held an additional unscheduled meeting to continue its review of curriculum proposals on January 22. The committee acted on the following:

 

UCAPC Subcommittee Reports

Study and Assess Writing Across the Curriculum (SAWAC):  Carol Loranger reported that the committee is holding its next meeting on January 17. A review of the WAC syllabi will begin at that meeting.

Note: following the committee's recommendation, the COLA changed the FR 321, FR 322, and FR 323 catalog descriptions so as to drop references to 321 and 322 at the beginning of the description, corrected the FR 465 Title For Student Record to read "French/Francophone Lit". While the committee approved the change of HST 301 Research Seminar to HST 401 Research Seminar, it was not clear as to why the 401 level research course would not carry any prerequisites or restrictions. The committee will contact the department to assure this was intended.

Next UCAPC Meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for February 10 (3:00 p.m.). Colleges submitting curriculum and policy proposals for review by the committee need to submit the original and 18 copies no later than January 30 and preferably by January 29 (the usual 8 working days in advance).
