SCHEDULING PROCEDURE

1)    All tutoring will be by appointment only. Appointments will be made in the Tutoring Office, 023R Dunbar Library.

2)    The appointment coordinator will access the computer for a list of tutors in the course(s), and with the student, schedule an appointment(s).

3)    Initial application for tutoring should be made in person at the Tutoring Office in 023R Dunbar Library.  At the time of application, you will make a specific appointment(s) with a tutor.   We try to give tutors at least two days notice of new appointments and unless you make a change, the appointment will continue for the remainder of the quarter (including finals week). You will receive an appointment slip indicating the name of your tutor; the tutor's phone and e-mail address; the day, time and location of the tutoring appointment(s); and cost information. If any of your tutoring is on a pay basis, you will be billed for the actual hours you were tutored after the quarter has ended

4)    The student will be advised to attempt to contact the tutor to inform the tutor that an appointment has been made. The tutor will also attempt to contact the tutee.

5)    Tutors will be notified of new appointments, changes to current appointments and cancellations of appointments via e-mail. When you receive a message from the office, please hit your reply button and just tell us you "got it."

6)    When making appointments, we try to give the tutors at least two days notice. (An appointment made on Monday for Tuesdays would begin the next week, and appointment made on Monday for Wednesday would begin that week)   EXCEPTIONS: (1) If the student contacts the tutor, and the tutor is willing to begin early.

7)    Appointments made will continue for the duration of the quarter (including finals week) unless changed by the student and/or the tutor.

8)    Cancellations should be made 24 hours in advance.   The concern is that neither the tutor not the tutee , make an unnecessary trip. Failure to give adequate notice either by the tutee or the tutor will be considered an unexcused absence. One unexcused absence by the tutee will result in the loss of the tutoring and the tutee will be charged $6. To continue tutoring the tutee must contact the tutor. After Two unexcused absences the tutee must meet with the Coordinator of Tutoring before appointments can continue.

Two unexcused absences or excessive cancellations by a tutor will result in that tutor being placed on probation.   A third unexcused absence will result in the tutor's employment being terminated. Emergency absences will be considered on a case by case basis. Tutors are responsible for making all scheduled appointments or for arranging with the tutee to make up missed appointments.

9)    The tutor is responsible for keeping the office informed of any schedule changes and for keeping accurate records for all tutoring sessions.

10) Tutors should plan ahead with their tutee in scheduling meetings during finals week.
