Students enrolled in the various special programs may be eligible for subsidized tutoring or extra hours of tutoring per week per course. Additional hours can be approved by contacting the tutoring office.
How to Apply
Initial application for tutoring should be made in person at the Tutoring Office in 023R Dunbar library. At the time of application, you will make a specific appointment(s) with a tutor. We try to give tutors at least two days notice of new appointments and unless you make a change, the appointment will continue for the remainder of the quarter. You will receive an appointment slip indicating the name of your tutor; the tutor's phone and e-mail address; the day, time and location of the tutoring appointment(s); and cost information. If any of your tutoring is on a pay basis, you will be billed for the actual hours you were tutored after the quarter has ended
Assignment
You will meet your tutor outside the door of 023R Dunbar Library
General Guidelines and Performance Expectations
Tutoring is a supplement to regular classroom attendance and homework and will not be provided to students who are not attending class.
Students should come to all tutoring sessions prepared and with specific questions, but do not expect your tutor to teach you the course or to do your homework for you! Students must be punctual at all scheduled tutoring sessions; one unexcused absence or chronic tardiness will result in the loss of tutoring help.
Students should make every attempt to notify their tutors or the tutoring office if they are unable to meet with a tutor as scheduled. If you are unable to make a scheduled appointment or if you want to cancel an appointment, it is important that you call or e-mail your tutor or the Tutoring Office at least 24 hours in advance. It is extremely inconsiderate to "stand somebody up." If you drop the course or no longer need tutoring, contact the office immediately. You will be charged $6 for any no-show, or if you cancel late.
Problems
If any problems arise concerning you and your tutor, notify our office immediately. Problems may include inability to contact the tutor, tutor cancellations or tardiness, or other situations affecting you from receiving the assistance you need.
