THE GOALS OF TUTORING

  1. To help beginning students who are having difficulty with course material by providing one-to-one or small group learning opportunities;
  2. To facilitate students' adaptation to the college environment and to the pace and difficulty of college work;
  3. To support Wright State's faculty in their effort to provide a relevant quality education to a diverse student population;
  4. To increase students' interest and involvement in their course work;
  5. To increase students' ability to successfully complete coursework and thus increase the likelihood of their retention to graduation;
  6. To provide role models who demonstrate good study habits and positive attitudes toward education;
  7. To assist special populations of students including physically handicapped, learning disabled, educationally under prepared and culturally disadvantaged;
  8. To encourage student independence and competence and thus help insure future success.
  9. To improve the educational environment and achievement of the student.
  10. To better the student's picture of himself by showing him how to   achieve, thus,   giving him self-confidence.
  11. To widen the horizons of the student through his contact with a concerned, helpful, more experienced person.
