Education Programs

Recognizing the need for more centralized academic support services to better serve our students, the University College combined the following student academic support units into the Student Academic Success Center (SASC):

  • Developmental Education - provides services for academically under prepared students in mathematics and writing to help prepare them for entrance into and the successful completion of general education courses. Located in 023R Dunbar Library.
  • Supplemental Instruction - Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a way to help students review course concepts, improve their study habits, and become better prepared for exams and course assignments.  A trained SI student leader, working in consultation with the professor, conducts routine SI group study sessions outside of class throughout the quarter.  Students enroll in the class may attend as many of the free SI sessions as they desire in order to review course material and have concepts reinforced.

Collectively, these units help ease students' transition from high school to college and enhance students' opportunities for continued and sustained academic success. The Student Academic Success Center reports to Tim Littell, Assistant Dean, Programming.
