All students admitted to the University College are assigned an Academic Advisor in the Academic Advising and Transfer Services Center. Advisors help students develop academic success strategies, become oriented to the university, and select and schedule classes.

  • Provide academic advising for most first-year students
  • Advise high school students enrolled in post secondary education courses
  • Advise University College transfer, returning, and adult students
  • Conduct registration advising sessions during the summer new student orientation program
  • Collaborate with advisors at the university's Lake campus for continuity of advising
  • Advise students on general education requirements (The WSU Core)
  • Help students understand and meet college entrance requirements to move into an appropriate major
  • Work with undecided/exploratory students to identify resources to help them make timely decisions about selecting a major
  • Assist students in setting realistic academic, personal and career goals
Academic Checkpoint:
  • Meet with an Advisor
  • Register on time
  • Check DARS regularly
  • Stay on track
