Academic Advising and Transfer Services

Assistant Dean

Charles Long Charles Long
Assistant Dean for Academic Advising and Transfer Services

Hello. My affiliation with Wright State University began in 1983 when I started my bachelor’s degree in Psychology. After completing my undergraduate degree, I stayed and earned a master’s degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education and, upon graduation, was hired as an advising assistant. Now, more than 20 years later, I am happy to still serve WSU. During my time here, I have worked in a variety of roles in University College, as well as the Raj Soin College of Business and the College of Liberal Arts, and I have had the good fortune to develop connections and bonds with many wonderful people across campus. In my spare time, I love to read and write, and, in 2011, I self-published my first novel, The God Killer.

Hello, My name in Mike Baumer.  I have been a full time Academic Advisor at WSU since 1990!  I am a proud graduate of Wright State University, first in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography and in 1985 with a Master of Science Degree in Social and Applied Economics!  I originally came to Wright State in 1977 with the intention of transferring to another university.  I have never left!  I ran Cross Country four years at WSU, competing in the NCAA II Cross Country Championships three times.  At age 24, I was selected to restart the Cross Country program after it was dropped for financial reasons at the conclusion of my senior year.  That same year, I started the women’s Cross Country team!  I coached through 1999.
