Thomas L. Kundert

Thomas L. Kundert is Director of Intellectual Property Law, Air Force Materiel Command Law Office, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

Mr. Kundert graduated from the University of Detroit with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC with a juris doctor degree. He is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia, Illinois and Ohio.

He is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Dayton Intellectual Property Law Association, and was past Vice- Chairperson of the Data and Patent Rights Committee of the American Bar Association, Section of Public Contract Law.

Mr. Kundert was a patent examiner in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and worked as a patent attorney in private practice in Chicago, Illinois and for the Department of the Navy, Naval Air Systems Command, Arlington, Virginia. He began employment with the Air Force in 1976 as a patent attorney in the Patents Division, HQ USAF/JACP, Washington, DC. In 1980, he was promoted to Chief, Patent Prosecution Office, AFLSA/JACPD, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, and held that position until being appointed in 1994 to his current position as Director of Intellectual Property Law, AFMC LO/JAZ.

He has extensive background and experience in patent, copyright, technical data, and technology transfer matters. He has been a frequent lecturer at the Office of Personnel Management seminar on Technology Transfer and the Management of Federal R&D, and serves as an adviser to various committees and groups on intellectual property law. He has also written and spoken widely on the intellectual property law aspects of technology transfer.
