William Lafferty

Having previously taught at Purdue and Iowa State University, William Lafferty joined the department's motion pictures area in 1981 and was department chair from 1987 to 1993. Lafferty has given numerous papers on the film and broadcasting industries before organizations ranging from the Society for the History of Technology to the Society for Cinema Studies. His articles have appeared in American Cinematographer, Camera Obscura, Cinema Journal, and SMPTE Journal. He has contributed chapters to several anthologies, including Columbia Pictures Television: The Studio and the Creative Process, and Hollywood in the Age of Television. His research has twice won awards from the Broadcast Education Association. Lafferty received his Ph.D. from Northwestern Univeristy.
