Russ Johnson

Russ Johnson received his M.F.A. in filmmaking from the University of Utah. He was artist-in-residence at the Utah Media Center and in 1981 he was an intern-filmmaker at Robert Redford's Sundance Institute. Before coming to Wright State in 1990, he taught at the Ohio University School of Film for seven years. His films have shown and received awards at international venues such as the New York Exposition of Short Film and Video, Cinema Giovani Festival International in Turino, Italy, and the Slice of Life Film and Video Festival. Recently, his film Necropolis was awarded "Best Experimental Film" at the Cinema Texas International Showcase of Short Film and Video. Johnson has been awarded fellowship from the Ohio Arts Council and the Headlands Center for the Arts in San Francisco.
