Pam Knauert Lavarnway is the resident scene designer and coordinator of the Design/Technology area in the Department of Theatre Arts. She has designed over thirty productions for Wright State University since 1991, and is the department’s charge scenic artist. Professionally she has designed scenery for numerous theatres including the Human Race Theatre Company and the Victoria Theatre Association (Dayton), the Reduced Shakespeare Company at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Skylight Opera Theatre in Milwaukee, the Cider Mill Playhouse (Binghamton, NY) and the Boston Shakespeare Company. Prior to coming to Wright State, Professor Lavarnway taught at Binghamton University and worked in regional theatre, serving as charge scenic artist at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and Studio Arena Theatre in Buffalo. More recently, she spent part of a sabbatical assisting British designer Bill Dudley, whose scenic and projection designs were seen on Broadway in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Woman in White. In the summer she co-teaches a seminar on Teachers’ Training for Scene Painting at Cobalt Studios, a professional scene painting studio and school in White Lake, NY. Member of United Scenic Artists.
