Affiliations with Professional Companies
The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Motion Pictures has established exchange programs with the Dayton Ballet and with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company that provide additional training and performance opportunities for exceptional dance majors. These opportunities include serving as apprentices or full company members in either Dayton Ballet II or DCDC II; performing with their respective main companies in town or on tour; and attending master classes, workshops, and lectures conducted by Dayton Ballet/Dayton Contemporary Dance Company directors and members, as well as other outside professionals.
The Dance Program is enhanced by the fact that Wright State dance faculty members have choreographed for Dayton Ballet, Dayton Ballet II, and DCDC II. All Wright State dance majors who are accepted into Dayton Ballet II or DCDC II are eligible for various scholarships established through the Department of Theatre, Dance, and Motion Pictures, Jeraldyne's School of Dance, and the Dayton Ballet School. Several former Dayton Ballet II/DCDC II dancers are now apprentices or full members of Dayton Ballet and DCDC.
