Admission/Scholarship Procedures for 2010-2011

Audition/Interview/Scholarship application, with audition and master class dates.

All auditions and interviews must be completed by February 28, 2010 for scholarship consideration.

Acting auditions will consist of two contrasting, one-minute monologues, and a one minute song from a Broadway musical with sheet music. You may only audition one time for the BFA Acting Program.

Musical Theatre auditions will consist of two one-minute contrasting monologues and two one-minute contrasting musical selections from a Broadway play. Please bring sheet music in the key that you sing with your musical cutting clearly marked and have your accompaniment on cassette tape or CD. We will provide a playback unit. In addition, you are required to take a musical theatre jazz class. Appropriate dance wear is required for dance class. You may only audition one time for the BFA Musical Theatre Program.

Dance auditions will consist of a ballet barre followed by learning a short combination from each of the three disciplines: ballet, modern, and jazz. Dancers interested in the Dayton Ballet II or Dayton Contemporary Dance Company II programs must submit a video tape two weeks prior to the audition. The tape should show excerpts from a typical class rather than a stage performance. It must include some barre and center work, some adagio, allegro, grande allegro, and a variety of turns. Design/Technology/Stage Management interview will consist of a 15-20 minute interview with design/technology/stage management faculty. During this time you will be given an opportunity to show evidence of your past accomplishments in design or technical theatre. Please bring evidence of your talents and accomplishments, such as sketches, drawings, and other art works, photographs of sets with which you were involved, technical drawings, or organizational materials.
