Greg Hellems
Greg received his Master of Fine Arts in Directing from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He also has a B.S. in Communications & Theatre from James Madison University. He has trained with Anne Bogart at the Saratoga International Theatre Institute. Before his appointment to Wright State, he was an instructor at both the University of Cincinnati – College Conservatory of Music's Preparatory Program and division of Opera, Musical Theatre, Drama and Management, and Northern Kentucky University. Greg was also a staff director/choreographer/creator for Kings Entertainment Company directing shows in the U.S. and Canada, and well as USO shows that toured the Mediterranean. Most recently, he has been on the faculty of Interlochen Arts Camp as the director/choreographer of the High School Musical Production. Credits at Interlochen include: Jekyll and Hyde, Rags, and Babes in Arms. He has been a contributing director and choreographer for several regional theatres including The Mountain Playhouse, Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati, Hot Summer Nights, and Downtown Theatre Classics of Cincinnati. Other credits include Carnival Cruise Lines, Legoland (Windsor, UK), Paramount Parks Inc., and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Directing projects at WSU include Aida, Grease and Ragtime. Greg was assistant director to Tina Landau for the regional premier of States of Independence at WSU. Other creative work includes the University of Cincinnati - College Conservatory of Music, Northern Kentucky University, Xavier University, Miami University, and James Madison University. Greg is a member of Actors Equity, an associate member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers and a founding member of The Musical Theatre Educators Alliance.
